# Adding Your Own Custom API

Tutorial·18 February 2016·7 min 40 sec

Beyond generated endpoints, DreamFactory lets you code a REST API of your own, publish a Swagger definition for it, and govern who may call it with the same role system. This covers all three steps.

**Recorded in 2016.** The concepts still apply, but the interface shown predates the current DreamFactory release. Some steps may differ in the current release.
